ACNE
It is a very common skin disease caused by the obstruction of the skin pores, with the consequent formation of pimples. 79-95% of adolescents have this condition, but also those over 25 years of age (40-54%), women over 40 years of age (12%) and 3% of men permanently. The origin of acne is due to the accumulation of fat and peeling skin in the skin follicles, and the action of bacteria on this fat and dead cells that have been accumulating. The four key factors responsible for the formation of acne are: excessive sebum production, clogged pore outlets, increased bacterial proliferation and inflammation. There are different types of acne: Comedonian acne: is the one that presents comedones (black and whiteheads). Inflammatory acne: it is characterized by the appearance of papules and pustules (those red pimples with pus). Severe acne: defined by the presence of nodulo-cystic lesions. If it is not treated, it can leave consequences such as scars and spots on the skin.
HOW IS IT TREATED?
Depending on the type, topical vitamin A derivatives or topical or oral antibiotics may be indicated for the most intense cases. In our center we have multiple treatments that can help improve acne skin.
