Facial Sagging
Facial sagging is the loss of firmness in the skin of the face, an aesthetic concern that unequivocally indicates the passage of time. As a consequence of skin sagging, the definition of the facial contour is lost. It occurs in women and men after 40 years of age. One of the causes is the loss of collagen and elastin, substances that are responsible for giving tone and firmness to facial skin and whose production decreases over the years. It is estimated that adult skin loses approximately 1% of its dermal collagen content per year due to increased degradation and decreased production.
In addition to skin aging and the action of gravity, other factors such as poor diet, a sudden change in weight, smoking and overexposure to the sun also play a role.
