Folliculitis
Folliculitis is an inflammatory process of the hair follicles that is generated by a superinfection of bacteria and fungi present in the skin. The bacteria most frequently involved in this pathology is Staphylococcus aureus. Clinically it manifests itself as small white pimples around one or more hair follicles. In most cases, folliculitis is superficial, but in other cases it can be deeper and be painful. Anyone can develop folliculitis, but it is more common in men in the beard area and in women it occurs in the thighs, buttocks and cavities (due to the trauma caused by hair removal).
HOW IS IT TREATED?
Treatment consists of avoiding predisposing factors (tight clothing, excessive perspiration, use of topical corticosteroids, etc.), antiseptic soaps, antibiotics in local creams and, if the condition is deeper and more widespread, systemic antibiotics. Furthermore, in the presence of a recurrent condition and the patient’s predisposition, laser hair removal (GENTLE MAX PRO) is suggested as a definitive solution, since by removing the hair the problem disappears.
