Rosacea
WHAT IS IT?
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition characterized by a tendency to blush easily and persistent redness in the central area of the face.
Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea is the most common form. These are persistent facial redness (erythema), episodes of flushing (a sensation of heat and burning) and enlargement of blood vessels (telangiectasias). It is common among women between 30 and 60 years old, with light skin.
Several factors related to lifestyle can trigger an outbreak in people with this condition. For example: heat (including hot baths, saunas and hot drinks), sudden changes in temperature, exposure to sunlight, emotional stress, alcoholic beverages (even in small quantities), physical exercise, spicy foods, drinking coffee, using certain skin care products, smoking, and using certain medications.
