Spider veins or telangiectasias
WHAT ARE THEY?
Spider veins, or telangiectasias, are small dilated blood vessels that become visible through the surface of the skin. They usually appear as fine red, purple or bluish lines and may occur individually or form small branching networks.
They are commonly found on the face, particularly around the nose and cheeks, although they can also appear on other areas of the body. Their development may be associated with genetic factors, sun exposure, hormonal changes, skin aging, circulatory changes, or certain individual habits and conditions.
Although in most cases they are primarily an aesthetic concern, a proper evaluation is important to determine the origin and specific characteristics of each vascular lesion.
HOW ARE THEY TREATED?
The treatment of telangiectasias depends on the type of vessel, its depth, diameter, color and location. For this reason, a professional evaluation is essential before recommending a procedure, in order to determine the most appropriate approach for each individual case.
Treatment options may include light-based technologies and vascular lasers, selected according to the characteristics of the skin and the vessels being treated.
